PASTOR'S CORNER

Welcome to the Parish of St. Ann's Website!

I invite you to explore our website as a means of getting to know St. Ann’s and all that we do to serve Christ and one another. While we are well known in Charlotte for having a beautiful church and beautiful liturgy, what’s most beautiful about our parish is our parishioners! We are a family-oriented, thriving parish just south of Uptown Charlotte, filled with people committed to worshiping God through the fullness of our Catholic tradition and serving the poor and needy with charity and compassion. Come join us for Mass and help us as we seek to glorify God, bear witness to His Truth, and show forth His Love.

WEEKLY LETTER

June 7, 2026
Dear Parishioners,

Happy Feast of Corpus Christi! This is one of my favorite feasts of the year, and I very much trust that our Lord showers down many graces upon our parish as we seek to honor Him in the Eucharist. Immediately following our 10:30am Mass this weekend, we’ll have our annual Eucharistic Procession, which includes 3 benedictions. This procession is an opportunity to honor our Lord, Who loves us so much to become our true food and drink, and to receive His blessings. This year we are blessed to have the newly-ordained Fr. Robbie Bauman offering the 10:30 Mass and leading our procession.

Of course, our parish is also blessed to have Eucharistic Adoration each week. It’s been noted that parishes that regularly host Eucharistic Adoration typically experience an increased attendance at Mass and confession, an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life, the return of fallen-away Catholics, and greater unity. After over 14 years of weekly Adoration here at St. Ann’s, we have experienced each of these things.

Furthermore, those who avail themselves Adoration regularly grow in their love of the Eucharist and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, for as Pope Benedict XVI wrote: “Adoration outside holy Mass prolongs and intensifies what happened in the liturgical celebration and renders a true and profound reception of Christ possible.” Spending an hour in adoration each week also helps people to slow down, to focus on what’s important in life, and to find peace and consolation in our dear Lord. In spending time with our Lord, we actually become more like Him. We grow in holiness, and ultimately it helps prepare us for Heaven where we will spend eternity gazing upon the loveliness of the Lord. Furthermore, I’ve always found Adoration to be a great place to discern and make major decisions.

If you aren’t already scheduled for an hour of Adoration during our weekly Adoration time each Tuesday and Wednesday, I strongly encourage you to sign up for one by calling our parish office. It’s a great investment in your spiritual life, and a wonderful act of love that you can show to our Eucharistic Lord.

Lastly, on 11 June 2026, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Included in this bulletin is the prayer of consecration that we’re all asked to pray. In addition to praying the prayer of consecration, please consider making some type of fast on 11 June in reparation for all the offenses committed against God and human dignity in our nation.

Yours in the Eucharistic and Sacred Heart of Jesus,

Fr. Reid
